Jointing of PP-R pipes and fittings is done using a simple process that uses a thermal welding system to form a strong watertight joint. The welding machine melts the inner surface of the fitting and the outer surface of the pipe. When these are pushed together they fuse to form a single homogenous joint.
The following steps describe the various stages of the welding process:
-
Prepare the welding machine by fitting it with the correct welding dies for the pipe and fitting diameters to be welded. Connect the plug to the 220 V power supply socket and wait until the machine reaches the working temperature (260 °C).+
-
Cut the pipe at right angles to the pipe axis using a suitable pipe cutter.
-
Peel off the outer PP-R and All layers completely using the appropriate equipment. Push the end of the composite pipe into the guide of the peeling tool. Peel the PP-R/Al composite layer to the stop of the peeling tool. It is not necessary to mark the welding depth as the stop of the peeling tool sets the correct welding depth.
-
Without turning, insert the end of the pipe into the heating sleeve up to the marked welding depth, at the same time and without turning fully slide the fitting onto the other side of the heating tool up to the stop.
-
Leave the pipe and fitting on the heating tool until the heating time has elapsed.
-
At the end of the heating time, remove the pipe and fitting from the heating tool and push them immediately and firmly into each other up to the mark indicating the welding depth. At this point the depth mark will be covered with the welding bead. During this process, do not rotate the pipe and fitting relative to each other.
-
Allow the joint to cool fully before using.
