SOLVENT WELD SOCKET:

Checking for damage on both the spigot and the socket surfaces is essential before any jointing procedure is begun. Spigot insertion depth measured as the distance from the mouth to the shoulder of the socket should be clearly marked on the spigot. The mating areas of the socket and the spigot should be perfectly clean and free from any moisture. Only natural fibers should be used for cleaning. Use a clean emery cloth or medium glass paper to lightly roughen the mating surfaces. Clean the mating surfaces again after roughening.Evenly apply solvent cement using recommended brush sizes to the mating surfaces in a width wise action. For sizes above nominal diameter of 3 inches, 2 people should apply the cement, simultaneously.

After the cement application, the spigot is pushed into the socket of the parent pipe, which is anchored, without turning the pipe. The inserting action should be smooth and continuous and the joint should be held in place for 20 seconds. Any extra overflowing cement should be wiped clean immediately. Allow 5 minutes for the cement to weld the joint and proper care should be then taken when handling the joint later.
