LEAK DETECTION

The electrical resistance of the polyurethane foam which is used as insulation material for the pipe-system is nearly infinite. The physical characteristic of the reduction of resistance in the case of moisture ingress is used for the basis of the leak-detection system. The resistance between the copper conductors which are implanted in the foam and the return media, steel pipe or return copper conductor, can be measured and a reading established.

IPS-Digital

An electrical impulse of low energy is applied to the wire conductors and progresses through the conductors at a speed of 137 m/µs or 137,000 Km/s. If moisture has entered the insulation layer, the resistance of that location will change. The point of defect can be calculated from the running time between impulse and detected reflection. The IPS-Digital system has an accuracy of fault location down to 0.5 of a metre.

In case of multiple defects, exact locations for all can be established. The IPS-Digital software prepares and presents the data automatically. All measurements can also be stored automatically for evaluation at a later point in time. With a maximum of 16 measuring points, expansions to the corresponding pipeline can be added up to a total length of 160Km.

IPS-Visual

With the IPS-Visual system, defects can instantly be located and shown directly on the drawings or layouts of the pipeline system. This development signifies an innovative advance in the field of user-friendly leakage detection systems.
