PRE-INSULATED PIPES
A Pre-Insulated Pipe is a three layered pipe configuration for the conveyance of fluids requiring minimal heat gain (or loss), thus leading to a product that is ideal for use in District Cooling / Heating Systems, Oil and Gas applications and other temperature dependant industrial requirements.

Pre-insulated pipes consist of an inner service pipe, outer jacket and a high quality injected foam insulation sandwiched between the two. In addition, leak detection wires may be factory installed within the polyurethane layer.

With its excellent characteristics of high insulation, moisture and chemical resistance, polyurethane foam is the best insulation commercially available in the market today. Cosmoplast’s insulation process ensures a homogeneous, void-free layer of rigid polyurethane foam insulation which directly bonds to both inner pipe and outer jacket surfaces.

One major advantage of a pre-insulated pipe is its excellent suitability to use a copper wire based leak detection system. This facility enables the detection and location of any ingress of water within the insulation layer by monitoring the transmission and progress of a low energy pulse through the copper wire components. This pulse can be continually monitored or

randomly checked to identify any presence or change in moisture content within the insulation layer.

The choice of inner service pipe, polyurethane density and thickness, as well as the jacket type and specifications are normally nominated by the pipe system end user.
